A quick announcement from Bike Scouts! Some of our volunteers will be helping out tomorrow at the San Pedro (Laguna) Mini Animal Shelter (https://maps.app.goo.gl/yuuTvDrCJX6r1D9T8) 3PM onwards. This is a very informal activity to support a 100% community-led effort to rescue and rehome abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in the San Pedro area. This shelter has no funding and is operating just with the help and support of community members and others who dinate their time, effort, money, and supplies that are needed to care for the animals. There are a lot of things needed at the shelter such as proper housing/shelter for the animals, veterinary support, regular food donations, and other similar things. Please let us know if you or anyone you know would be interested to help or donate to this project. Animal welfare, care, and rescue is part of the Bike Scouts disaster response work since we started in 2013 during our Typhoon Yolanda deployment and we also worked 24/7 to rescue abandoned animals from inside the danger zone during the Taal Volcano eruption in 2020 - some of which were left locked inside homes and stockrooms that were starting the get buried under a lot of ash from the volcano. We are hoping that we can better prepare people for animal care in times of disasters through projects like this. Thank you and have a great day!
