MANILA, Philippines – We’ve released apps for iOS and Android and many have asked, “what about Windows?” Today we’re pleased to announce that Rappler for Windows 8 is now available as a free download from the Windows Store.
Designed specifically with touch-enabled computers and tablets in mind, Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system brings some of the best features of mobile devices to its desktop portfolio. With Windows 8 apps you can interact with your computer like you would on your smartphone – but with the additional screen real estate.
Developed from the ground up, the Rappler app for Windows 8 lets users access the latest stories on Rappler, look through the Mood Navigator for the day’s most voted on stories, and submit reports.
On computers and tablets with touch displays, users can also swipe through the main screen to skim through the top stories from each section, scroll through stories, and tap to vote on our Mood Meter. Users can also navigate using a touch pad or mouse.
Unique to Windows 8 is Live Tile functionality. When the Rappler app icon is set to medium or large the tile will display a listing of the latest headlines so you can stay informed right from your Start screen. You’ll also get full screen views of photo slide shows and videos for a more immersive multimedia experience.
To download the app from your Windows device, tap on the Windows Store icon then search for Rappler. The app supports tablets and computers running Windows 8.1 and above.
We’ve worked closely with Microsoft to build this new app and to make sure it works and feels just as you would expect a Windows 8 app to. Soon we’re also launching Rappler for Windows Phone. – Rappler.com
