WATCH: Rappler goes print!

MANILA, Philippines – Rappler is turning a new page…literally.

It took weeks of deliberations, and buckets of tears (thanks, bashers) before we finally realized it was time for us to take our news reporting to the next level.

In 2013, Rappler dropped “beta” and launched the Rappler app on iOS and Android. This year – 2015, Rappler is moving in a wild, new direction: We’re going print.

“Our job is to bring the news to them, on demand. But we realize that going digital has a lot of limitations. That burden shouldn’t be on our readers,” said Rappler Social Media Head Stacy de Jesus.

We believe in adapting to keep up with our readers. We needed to change, and we needed to do it fast.

Our main step was to repurpose our Social Media Team, since we wouldn’t be needing them anymore. Their laptops were then replaced with typewriters, and their phones with notebooks and pens, for instance.

At the end of the day, we knew we’d done something right.

This is a thrilling new stage in our lives, and we hope you and enjoy and appreciate this exciting effort! – Rappler.com
